Giving a journey

Give someone a reason to put the kettle on.

Three or six letters from Mira, each with the loose leaf tea she found where she was writing and something small to keep. You choose the month it begins. We write your note by hand and tuck it into the first envelope.

How giving works

Three small steps, then the post does the rest.

01

Choose a journey

Three Months or Six Months. Both are paid once and end on their own, so nothing ever lands on their card, and nothing lands on yours again.

02

Tick “This is a gift”

Pick the month the first envelope goes out and leave a short note. We handwrite it on a small card and tuck it in beside Letter No. 01.

03

Their address at checkout

Put their address under shipping. The receipt comes to you. Each envelope is posted, tracked, between the 1st and the 15th.

Inside each envelope

One place, sent in three parts.

Finish all six and the bound Volume One follows, hand numbered and not for sale.

I.

The letter

Written by Mira from wherever the road has taken her that month. The markets, the people, the small details that stayed with her.

II.

The tea

10g of single-origin loose leaf from the place she's writing about, with how to brew it and a little of its history.

III.

The keepsake

Something small from the same place. A bookmark, a pressed sprig, a stamp for the volume.

Choose their journey

Two ways to give it.

Three Months

The easiest one to give

$72paid once
  • Three letters, three teas
  • A keepsake in every envelope
  • Opens at Letter No. 01
  • Never renews, nothing to cancel
  • Free tracked shipping in the US
Give three months
Completes Volume One

Six Months

The complete Volume One

$139paid once
  • Six letters, six teas, six stamps
  • The bound volume, hand numbered
  • Opens at Letter No. 01
  • Never renews, nothing to cancel
  • Free tracked shipping in the US
Give the complete volume

Monthly renews on the giver's card until it's cancelled, so we don't suggest it as a gift. If you'd like to start one for yourself, it's here.

From the people who open them

What arrives, in their words.

I didn't realize how much I missed receiving real mail until this arrived. The letter was well written, the tea was absolutely lovely, and it gave me a moment I genuinely looked forward to.

Emily R.

This has quickly become one of my favorite monthly rituals. I make the tea first thing in the morning when it arrives and read Mira's letter to live vicariously through her travels.

Sarah M.

I originally signed up because I love receiving letters and this is just super cool! The letters take me to places I've only dreamed of, and the tea selection has been exceptional.

Before you give it

The details.

When will the first envelope arrive?

It's posted between the 1st and the 15th of the month you choose, and it travels tracked. We can promise when it leaves us, not the day the mail carrier brings it. The rest follow one a month after that.

Whose address goes in at checkout?

Theirs, under shipping. Your email stays on the order, so the receipt and any updates come to you.

What does the note look like?

A small card, written by hand and tucked into the first envelope. It's a little card, so a line or two is right. The box stops at 150 characters.

Will it renew?

No. Three and Six Months are charged once and end after the last letter. No card is kept on file, theirs or yours.

Where does their story start?

At Letter No. 01, whenever the journey begins. Nobody is dropped into the middle of a story that started without them.

Can I give it to more than one person?

Yes. Place a separate order for each, so every one has its own address, month and note.

What if something needs changing?

Write to hello@thesteepedletter.co with your order number. Unshipped letters can be refunded within 30 days of purchase, and the refund goes to you, not to them. If an address went in wrong, tell us within 60 days and we'll resend at no charge.

Can I send it outside the US?

Yes. International postage is quoted at cost at checkout, and it takes a little longer to arrive.

Something to open without distraction. Something to return to.
